Begin with viewer attention

For each scene, write where attention starts, where it should end, and what evidence appears between those points. A camera move is one method for transferring attention. Subject movement, an edit, focus, light, or graphic emphasis may do the job more simply.

Define the shot’s informational priority: establish context, reveal a product, demonstrate a mechanism, compare states, express emotion, or deliver an action. One shot can support several goals, but one should lead.

Match common movements to decisions

A push-in can emphasize discovery or detail, but it reduces surrounding context. A pull-back can reveal environment or consequence, but the key object may become too small. A pan can connect subjects horizontally, while a tilt can reveal height or vertical relationship. Tracking can follow action, orbiting can describe form, and a static frame can make proof easiest to inspect.

Transitions should express time, location, comparison, or continuity. If a transition does not clarify one of those relationships, a direct cut may be stronger. Verify current control terminology in official documentation rather than assuming film vocabulary maps exactly to a product button.

Specify start, path, and finish

Draw three thumbnail frames: opening, midpoint, and ending. Mark subject position, camera path, screen direction, and safe areas. Describe speed with a meaningful curve such as slow arrival at the product detail, not simply “dynamic.”

The end frame must hand off cleanly. Note whether the next scene begins with matching direction, scale, object state, and visual weight. A strong isolated move can produce a weak edit if its finish has nowhere to go.

Protect product truth during motion

Motion can amplify geometric drift, changing labels, extra fingers, disappearing objects, or implausible mechanisms. List protected details and inspect them across the entire clip. Pause at the moment of highest occlusion or fastest movement, not only the first and last frames.

If a claim depends on exact operation, consider a static close shot or filmed insert. Cinematic treatment should never imply a capability the product does not have.

Run a one-variable test

Hold the input, model, composition, duration, and subject action constant while comparing a static version with one movement. Score message clarity, product fidelity, visual comfort, caption space, continuity, and cleanup. Then decide; do not add a second camera variable until the first earns its place.

Record the live tool label, date, and account context. Published examples cannot guarantee identical behavior with a different model, plan, or source asset.

Example: revealing a foldable keyboard

A campaign scene must show a compact keyboard unfolding on a café table. The proof is hinge operation and final full-size layout. Protected details include key arrangement, hinge count, hand position, brand mark, and the laptop staying in the background.

Version A uses a static three-quarter medium shot. Version B adds a slow lateral track that keeps the hinge centered. The team does not change the reference or action. Reviewers find that the track gives a better sense of width but causes key drift near the end. Because product accuracy outranks spectacle, the static version wins. A separate close insert can show the hinge.

The rejected movement remains documented with its score and reason. That result informs later scenes: movement is reserved for the lifestyle introduction, while proof shots remain stable.

Review for comfort and accessibility

Watch at target size and on a representative phone. Fast moves, flashing transitions, and abrupt zooms can distract or create discomfort. Ensure captions remain readable and do not chase a moving focal point. Check whether viewers still understand the scene without audio.

Use a restrained motion system across the campaign. Repeating one or two intentional patterns creates coherence; using a different effect in every scene creates competition.
